Assistant Controller – Consulting Firm - Vancouver

Our client is a well-established accounting/ consulting firm located in downtown Vancouver. Specializing in small to mid-sized public resource-sector companies, the firm offers outsourced financial partnership, providing full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, and strategic advisory services.  The Assistant Controller role involves support for their more complex clients and includes duties such as:  oversight of general ledgers and underlying accounting transactions, preparing quarterly and annual financial statements and MD&A’s, preparation and/or review of working papers supporting financial statements and MD&A’s, liaising with external tax advisors and participating with strategic planning and regulatory reporting,  interacting with/supporting CFO’s and/or CEO’s of client companies, managing the audit/review process with external auditors, etc.  Candidates require 5+ years’ experience in an accounting/finance department of a public company or CPA firm with exposure to public company clients, CPA designation, however senior level CPA students will be considered. You should have a deep understanding of IFRS accounting and financial reporting for public companies and experience drafting and/or auditing financial statements and notes as well as preparing and reviewing supporting working papers.  Advanced IT proficiency with experience using multiple accounting platforms and advanced Excel skills is required.  This company offers a hybrid office culture, a flexible benefits plan and performance based bonus potential.
